Usually equivalent to a grade in US schools, or a Year in HP-speak.
Sometimes a Form can be just one ability group of a year, though this was
known as a Set in my school. For instance, when I started senior school, I
was in Third Form (my year group), Set 1 for French (on ability) and Set 2
for Maths (on ability). A Sixth Form College is the equivalent of Grades 11
and 12 in a separate school.
HTH, but as usual in Britain, YMMV.
