I once read a Muppet Show writer saying that if a joke was too bad to 
be used once, sometimes they'd use it three times.  And you know, it 
worked--on The Muppet Show, which is way, way funnier than SNL.

I only saw In Living Color a few times but liked it better than SNL 
too.  "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Farrakhan" is one of the best ST 
parodies I've ever seen (though SNL did a good one too).
