Oh, yeah....(wipes drool off the keyboard) he was awesome! I agree, it's
been a while since I crushed on anyone (OK, Colin Firth in Pride &
Prejudice; but that was it, I swear!) but this did it. I don't even like
the straggly-haired bearded type; I like clean-cut guys; but this did it. I
am so blown away. And I'm married. (Sigh)
I don't think he should be Lupin; although I really like Lupin and think
he's an interesting character, I don't think he's sexy. But Sirius,
now....YES!
Here's a vaguely HP-related question: We all (OK, most of us) think that
Sirius is sexy. But WHY? This may or may not be a kid's series, but it's
definitely written from a kid's point of view. A boy at that, who at this
point shows no signs of ever even vaguely thinking about men in a romantic
way (sorry, slashers!) So nothing that we see through Harry's eyes is
definably sexy about Sirius. So WHY do so many of us think that he's so
hot?
Is it that we are, against all reason, attracted to the dangerous,
unpredictable type? I married a safe, sane, perfectly reasonable,
laid-back-to-the-point-of-comatose guy. In real life, this is what I
wanted. Is it just that, in fantasy, I'd like a bit more excitement?
Excitement that, while it makes for good reading, might make for
uncomfortable marriages?
Is it that we are attracted to men who aren't afraid to show emotion? I
gotta admit, I was hoping Harry would break down and cry at the end of GoF.
I don't think he's ready for that yet, but I have to think that Harry, as
well as Sirius, is suffering from Post Traumatic Whatever the heck it is,
and it's about time he let loose with some of his emotions. One of my
favorite things about Sirius is that he keeps yelling when appropriate.
Is it that we are attracted to men who keep their promises? Who put
themselves in danger's way to protect a child left in their care as best as
they can under the circumstances?
Or do we just like that whole straggly-haired Strider (pant pant) thing?
