First of all, a happy new year to all! December 24 I had the worst computer
crash in my life, which put me on an enforced vacation from Potterdom until
now. :-(
Adana drooled,
> he was awesome! I agree, it's been a while since I crushed on
> anyone (OK, Colin Firth in Pride & Prejudice; but that was it,
> I swear!) but this did it. I don't even like the straggly-haired
> bearded type; I like clean-cut guys; but this did it. I am so blown
> away. And I'm married. (Sigh)
... and poor David straggled and scratched at his cranial growth.
My wife and I went to see the film just before New Year. Since Susan detests
anything even remotely violent or scarey, she spent most of the film with
her eyes shut. She said the film's one saving grace was that Aragorn looked
remarkably similar to her dh (=dashing hunk). <preens flowing dark locks -
and just wishes Aragorn, a guy with obviously limited time or inclination to
shave, had just gone ahead and grown a *real* beard instead of that sad
little goatee>
In general - to recap on a conversation everyone else has already had - I
thought LoTR was amazing - and the epitome of what they should have done
with HP. I particularly appreciated the narrated portions - a couple of
narrations would have made PS an entirely different film - and the decision
to make Frodo more likeable.
I do wish they hadn't made Gandolf run about hugging people, though. And I
also wonder whether I could have enjoyed the film as much during my days as
a fanatical Tolkein fan.
Baaaaaa!
