Not all Middle-earth Big Folk, but only those of Numenorean
descent have been granted a life-span "three times that of lesser
Men" as a gift for their resistance to Morgoth in the First Age.
This gift has been slowly dwindling since Numenor fell, but has
been restored in Aragorn's case.
