He is a very popular TV Chef over here, who went from being a nicely 
brought up Middle Class boy, who worked hard, trained with some very 
good chefs (such as Antonio Carluccio, The River Cafe owners etc.), 
and then was suddenly "discovered" during a programme about the River 
Cafe and shot to TV Stardom, on the way reinventing himself into 
a "Mockney" and using words such as "Pukka" a lot.  

I agree with Dai - I don't really like him, but have his recipe 
books, and some of the food he cooks is pretty good.
