I could blame cyber-gnomes, but this is of course a rather 
embarrasing typo on my part.  Worse yet, it made a difference in the 
meaning of my intended message - what I meant to say was quite the 
reverse than what was actually there when I hit send.  IIRC I meant 
to have the word "not" in front of "discredited".  I need a charm to 
prevent myself from again creating such muddling of the intended 
message.
