Forced Viewing

My English teacher (research English) has impressed upon us a chore to be
completed the 15th. I forced myself to go out and do it yesterday, while
Mom babysit.
The chore? Go see LOTR. Now, I was one of those who wasn't too interested
in seeing it until it hit DVD--I had a problem in HP with holding it, and
bathrooms, so I knew I'd have a problem in LOTR! (actually, it was more a
problem with the 4 year old, lol...but we shall be going back to the movie
soon (HP))
Being forced into it, I approached it like a prisoner to the gallows, and
the 3 hours + hung over my head like the rope. I was pleasantly
surprised--I enjoyed the previews immensely--they ALL were movies I would
like to see (esp Star Wars and Spiderman, lol! Blade 2 for me alone without
Ian), and then I settled back to watch.
The backdrops were gorgeous, and the movie wasn't as bad as I thought it'd
be, but there seemed to be an ongoing concept--send folks, beat up the
hobbits, send folks--beat up the hobbits.... grins.
I had forgotten a great deal of the book so the ending took me by surprise,
and I voiced my concern about it aloud during the credits--THAT'S where it
ends? The lady beside me laughed, and reacquainted me with it (in fact, she
told me to go read book 2 and 3, lol)--this was her 4th viewing.
I'm rather glad for this assignment--something I dreaded turned into
something I enjoyed.
:)
And Frodo isn't bad looking, but then again Strider is cute! (hmmm..
Sirius? Ducks quickly!)
