Update on the phone situation, happies to everyone...

Hi all.  I'm going to reverse the order of my subject and start off 
by saying congrats to everyone who deserves it... and not to those 
who don't.  You know who you are! ;)

Kidding.  Happy Birthday, Heidi... happy anniversary, Wanda!

Now.

Well, my phone officially died about 10 minutes after I whined about 
it.  Monday morning, I found out that not even the DSL was working, 
so it HAD to be the line, not the phone.  Hubby called Pac Bell from 
work, they said they'd be out Tuesday, and to be home between 8am AND 
9pm.  CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT???????? (er, sorry)  A 13-hour window?  
The Nerve (with a capital N!) of them!  So, we didn't have internet 
access all Monday.  Now, most of you know that my husband and I MET 
on the internet 8 years ago.  You've got to understand that we are 
*junkies*.  Every 30 minutes, one of us was trying to log on to check 
our email or the news without even thinking that we simply *couldn't* 
do it.  Then we'd sit at the desk and look stupid for a while, trying 
to cover up the fact that we'd forgotten again.  To top it all off, 
yesterday was my mother-in-law's birthday, and we couldn't call her.  
Sheesh.

So today, Pac Bell didn't show up until almost 3pm.  When they 
finally came, it turns out that there was a short at the junction at 
the pole (in our back yard, which is close to the neighbor's monster 
tree - which probably played a part in damaging the connection), so 
they replaced the old wire, and now our DSL connection is faster than 
ever, and we'll be able to make calls when it rains!  Heehee!

Anyway, that's what's going on.  My vent should be over now... 
although, of course, I can't predict the future and whatever nagging 
little problems will come up then. ;)

Jen (who now knows what it's like to be up at 3am thinking "what if 
a burglar comes and I can't even call 911???")
