For a longer running view, have a look a the Locus
Magazine site (www.locusmag.com) and search for 'hugo
award'. The controversy started in November of last
year, with some of the pros being very disappointed
with the voting. This would include me; however, I
felt then, as I do now, that what was voted in gets
the prize.

Personal comment: Fluke, pure and simple. Popular
with a segment of fandom (obviously, since that's who
votes for the Hugos), but time will tell if Rowling
'belongs' with the likes of Clarke, Asimov et al. I
personally weigh in with the POV that says it was the
best -Fantasy- novel of the year, but...

The usual awards given to the best SFWA and non-SFWA
flames in response {grin}.

Cheers,

Drieux
