There's also the cryptic statement in Genesis 9,5 that God will
ask an accounting of animals. (It seems to men that God will
punish animal that attack human beings, though the translation
seem to be pretty difficult. It certainly has me worried that my
neighbor's tom cat - who has drawn blood on more than one
occasion - has fire and brimstone in store for him.)
