I guess you can add me to the list of converts.  I looked it up the 
other day after reading Jeralyn's post.  It arrived courtesy of 
Amazon this morning, and I've had time to read the first half a dozen 
chapters.  Brilliant.  I love the games he plays with you - for 
example, after seeing "Fillip"  and "Filbert" in rapid succession, I 
immediately thought: "A-ha, no ph in this reality,"  and deliberately 
looked out for more aberrations.  I soon came across Phelps, so that 
one went out the window, but I guess it could be a forename/sirname 
thing...  I love the Baconites as well.

Catherine, who was taught lit crit the Leavisian way originally, and 
has never recovered.
