There are several reasons to not use webview that may come into
effect. Many members of HPfGU, OTChatter, and other groups, have
dial-up connections, where theya re charged by the minute for the
time spent online, with a minimum charge for each time you log on. A
bundle of messages which takes one hour to read in webview, will take
just as much time to read if downloaded to the computer, but you only
have to stay online for a few minutes to collect it if you download
the mail to your computer. If you read it in webview at the groups,
or in webmail at Yahoo!Mail, you either have to stay online the whole
time, or you have to log on and log off and log on and log off and
log on and log off and log on.... It is simply cheaper to download
to the local computer in such a situation. The possibility of
downloading to the computer is what Yahoo!Mail is now going to take
money for.

Also, there is may be a wish to have a local archive of the messages
one considers important, in case the group goes down, which is a
justified worry in many cases.
