Blessed Halloween

Hi all.
Warning:: If I come off as a very silly girl, I am sorry. Just some
day you just can't sound intelligent to save your life...and today was
one of those days.
Ah, Halloween. A blessed day where one can sit next to a rather
large, *way* too tightly fitted green sweat suit frog and a severed
head dragging hunchback and not even blink. What genius thought this
holiday up anyway? Even still, a day I can dress Potter-style is a
day worth waking up for in my book indeed.
I just finished my robes last night with a flourish of pain sewing on
the patch (now I know why good thimbles were so valuable on the 19th
century black market). I must say it was a lot of fun to make. I had
to fudge on a hood since my pattern did not come with one, but it
worked a lot better than I thought it would. My skirt came in the
mail Wednesday, but my tie, alas, did not come. Seems it will have to
accompany me to the movie house for it's initiation.
I got to wear the regalia to work today, and all and all, these
costumes are *incredible* comfortable. I must say it is about 45F
here, and I was not even cold (and I am a wimp with the cold). I
should of broken in my Mary Janes before wearing them all day, but the
look was worth it. Pasty white legs peaking out under the skirt and
all. Seems not getting tanned all summer makes it British
authentic...yeah that was my intent. ;)
Most people did not know who I was until I drew out my wand, but this
*really* cute 30-year-old guy said, "Hey, your Hermione." I must say
I blushed a bit since most guys near my age are clueless about it all.
I should of said something intelligent, but I managed to squeak out,
"No, not Hermione. Everyone is her. I'm just a Hogwarts girl." He
smiled a bit confused and went on. When I turned to my co-worker next
to me she died laughing. It seems I had just sucked on a blue
lollypop and my mouth was bright blue. Great. I final find a guy
that actually knows the books enough to pronounce Hermione correctly,
and I chase him away with blue teeth. Grrrrr.
I had a few offers to baby-sit kids, dressed up in full regalia of
course. Yeah, a new reason to dress-up now. Seems this costume will
pay for itself after all.
So, all in all, I love this costume. I hope to get a picture up soon,
if y'all will forgive the fact I am wearing a red tie and not a red
and gold tie. No one at work even noticed. *Sigh.*
So, hope your dress-up was as fun as mine. Hopefully next time, if a
cute guy with Potter knowledge comes up (I am sure there are at least
a *few* more), I won't act like a schoolgirl and mumble my words all
up. Gracious.
