Well, I suppose as a teacher surrounded almost entirely by women, it's not
surprising that I didn't run into a cute guy with Potter knowledge. Or a
cute guy without Potter knowledge, for that matter. :) All in all,
everything went quite well at our little "literary festival." I was, if I
do say so myself, a great Hermione. Now, in Pre-K through 2nd grade, I got
called everything from "Harry Potter" to "Mrs. Harry Potter" to "Harmonica."
Hey, at least he got the right number of syllables in there! I did manage
to teach some of them to say "Hermione." It was fun, though, really fun. I
did loads of different things in each class, and greatly shortened my time
in Pre-K, as they were looking at me like I just fell off the moon. They
did like the Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans (Jelly Bellys actually, didn't
want to chance someone getting a vomit flavored one!). In one first grade
they got *really* into it. I was just story telling to them and they
started asking me about what's in the forbidden forest and all sorts of
stuff. Lots of fun. I told the flying car story a lot (or, about my
friends with the flying car, of course), they "got" that one.

Oh, something really cute happened this week too. This may belong on the
movie list, but hey, I'm too lazy and I'm already typing here. :) A few
weeks ago, when we were doing real/make-believe stuff, I used Daniel/Harry
as an example of real/ make believe. Since my kids had started thinking
Harry Potter was real because I had "pictures." So they've been introduced
to the name. And as you know, Daniel, Emma, and Rupert were on Oprah
Tuesday. On Wednesday one of my kids came to school all excited, telling me
he'd seen Daniel Radcliffe on Oprah. When he went to the writing center,
guess what he wrote? "Danyoll Ratclif plays Harry Potter." Isn't that
cute! I got a big kick out of it, anyway. :)
