How I Spent My Halloween

Hey, since everybody else is telling about their Halloween experience, I
thought I'd share my little story, which has a Harry Potter Happy Ending...
Well, I was all geared up to go over my friends' house in the evening...had
my robes, my pointy witches hat...ready to go...but then a co-worker of mine
reminded me that I had promised (a long while ago) that I would pick up
somebody else from their work that evening and bring her home. I'd made
this promise, forgetting that it was Halloween, and I couldn't weasel my way
out of it, so I had to surrender. And this person, Amanda, worked in a
mall, two hours away from where we were in Philadelphia. I was bumming.
But then, I decided that I wasn't going to let this spoil my Halloween, by
gum! I brought along my robes, and two hours later, when I got to the
mall, I put them on, and went in the mall wearing them. Got a lot of double
takes, I tell you. Amanda, she's a manager of a shop in the mall, and it
turns out that they sell all sorts of Christmas decorations and calendars.
When I got there, she loved my costume, although she thought I was Gandalf.
She really appreciated that I came to pick her up, and I kinda rubbed it in,
the fact that I gave up my Halloween to help her out...I wasn't being mean,
just, "Oh, yeah, by the way..."
Then Amanda said, to make it up to me, I could pick out whatever I wanted
from the store. "Really? Anything?" The store had a small section devoted
just to Harry Potter, which attracted me just like a magnet. So, that
evening I picked up (totally free!) a Harry Potter CoS 2003 calendar, not
the large size though...it's about 1/2 the size of a regular
calendar...plus, I got another one, which is one of those day-by-day
calendars which you tear off a sheet for each day...and each sheet has a way
cool picture from the movie...and I mean way cool!...I don't know if anybody
out there has picked one of these up yet, but I want to tell you about it,
but I should really mosey over to Movie Chatter to do so...
By the time I got back home, it was 9:00 pm, too late for
Trick-or-Treating...but I went over to my friends' house anyway. Turned out
that they were still had their costumes on (one friend was a little Dutch
girl, complete with wooden shoes, and the other was a cow). We ended up
crusing around Philadelphia in my car wearing our costumes, with the radio
turned up, singing _Hotel California_ at the top of our lungs...we had fun
and the evening didn't turn out to be such a waste after all.
Will be posting pictures once they get developed!
