I Just Have to Respond:
I had to laugh at your post, Teri! because you just described my thoughts on
the matter perfectly, right down to the Snape bit :)>
I remember several years ago I heard on a radio talk show program (don't
recall who was speaking and in what context, sorry) this person made an
observation that women, in general, often judge men in terms of how good a
partner he would make.
Now following in that vein, out of all the "of age" characters in
Potterverse, Lupin does seem to be the best catch. Sure he's poor as dirt,
but he's intelligent. Good with kids. Creative (he came up with that
obstacle course idea for the DADA final exam...I'd call that creative,
wouldn't you?) So he turns into a werewolf once a month...at least you know
it's coming, and you can remind him to take the potion. Anyway, I become
really nasty once a month too :)>
As for Black, I really don't think I can say anything about Black...it has
been mentioned elsewhere that we really haven't seen him under "normal"
conditions. He's also a man on the run from the law, and though that may
change, he's also carrying a lot of baggage from his stint at Azkaban. That
glazed look that comes over his eyes when he thinks about "those days" kinda
frightens me.
Then there's Snape...ahhh, Snape. Sure, he's an evil S.O.B., but there's
something about him (starts to hum her filk, _I Don't Know Why I Like Him_).
But I think his personality would get on my nerves after a while. I would
probably fall for a hot romance, ending in a bitter fight :)>
Lockhart, you mentioned, Richelle? The looks are there, but do you really
want to hear him bragging 24-7? Been there, done that.
Whattaya think about Dumbledore? Oh yeah, I know he's an old coot, but I
bet he was something in his day...red hair, very intelligent, influential,
powerful. He's got a good sense of humor. Responsible. Deals very nicely
with others.
-Gail B. who thinks she might have spoken too much.
