One of my friends told me that a Hogwarts School appears in the
Molesworth stories by by Geoffrey Willans and the famous Ronald
Searle. Unfortunately I can't check this out for myself, as the books
are ancient collectibles, costing hundreds of dollars on amazon.com.

JKR herself said in an interview:
"I thought I made up Hogwarts, but recently a friend said, 'Remember
we saw lilies in Kew gardens (a garden in London.)' Apparently there
are lilies there called Hogwarts. I'd forgotten!"
and another interview:
"A friend from London recently asked me if I remembered when we first
saw Hogwarts. I had no idea what she was talking about until she
recalled the day we went to Kew Gardens and saw those lilies that
were called Hogwarts. I'd seen them seven years before and they'd
bubbled around in my memory. When Hogwarts occurred to me as a name
for the school, I had no idea where it came from."

<< Am I the only one who wants to marry Lupin? >>

Of course not! There are legions of us, including Amy Z who uses the
Yahoo!name lupinesque. I fancy *many* wizards, but dear Remus is the
only one I want to marry. Here's a snip from my main list post
#39106:
"I fancy Remus most of all, and I don't believe it has anything to do
with wanting to rescue him or mother him or because he is
'vulnerable': I believe his problems serve only to show how
(emotionally) strong he is; I fancy him because he is so extremely
kind (oh, the thought of someone being *that* kind to me!), and
competent, and emotionally strong."
and #39101:
"I am only one of the myriad of HPfGU women who rush, whenever
someone claims that there is a dichotomy between fancying Severus
and fancying Sirius, that *I* fancy both.

But I don't fancy Sirius as Hurt-Comfort: the Sirius I fancy is the
pre-Azkaban one, the handsome boy with laughing eyes, who takes crazy
risks flying on his motorcycle and doesn't think of consequences ...
and I only want to sleep with him (and *maybe* be friends): he is
NOT husband material.

Fancying Severus is a real case of Hurt-Comfort, in fact a cliche of
cheap romance novels: the tall, dark, powerful, intelligent, NASTY man
who won't let people get emotionally close to him, but the Nastiness
is the result of his own tremendous inner suffering, and the romance
heroine (i.e. the reader ... or Draco in my fic!) manages to melt
that ice, get close to him, heal his inner suffering with her love,
and then he loves her, with romantic words, hot sex, and more respect
for her thoughts and feelings that he has ever shown for anyone
else's before."

I think that Lupin was much less poor in his school days, when he was
financially dependent on his parents, so it didn't matter that no one
would hire him for a job. Maybe since then his parents have died
without leaving him a big inheritance, I like to think they have
retired and live on a limited retirement savings, or maybe he is too
proud to accept money from them at the age of 36. If the parents died
without leaving a big inheritance or retired on limited assets, then
they weren't rolling in money during his school days either (unless
they blew it all ... plot bunny?), but I imagine he had decent dress
robes, non-pre-owned textbooks, and enough spending money that he
could have a butterbeer on Hogsmeade weekends without having to
depend on the charity of his friends.
