I'm assuming this wasn't your first clue to the fact that the UK press can
on occasion be very very stupid!
Everyone keeps saying that it's a shock because they'd heard he was
recovering, but I somehow managed to miss the fact that he was ill in the
first place! So I was very surprised when I heard the news.
I know I'll remember him as King Arthur rather than Dumbledore, I loved that
film. Hmmm, you know when famous actor's die the BBC usually tries to show
some of their work in a tribute .... Must make sure the video's working.

Subject: [HPFGU-OTChatter] Richard Harris - Headlines

A couple of our UK newspapers have announced his death by headlines
saying 'Dumbledore is dead'.

Several radio and tv commentators have pointed out that this is an
incredibly stupid headline, which is probably going to upset a lot
of young HP fans. The presenter Jonathan Ross remarked it was rather
like having a headline saying 'Santa Claus has died'.

Anyway, thanks to Joywitch for expressing what I was also thinking.
Harris was a lovely, amusing, talented actor - but boy, was he
phoning in his performance as Dumbledore in Philosopher's Stone.

My sympathies are with his family and friends ( and his death upset
me as well). We lost a great actor yesterday - but Dumbledore was
not his greatest role.
