Ahh... I fear the same is true with Californians. I can't
for the life of me remember how far it is to Los Angeles in
miles (don't even think about asking me how many kilometers
it is), but I could tell you how long it takes to get there
(at least, how long it takes to get from my town to West Los
Angeles/Westwood), given the traffic situation. ;)

For instance, it takes 2.5 hours to get there in the best
of conditions. Add some slowdowns (which are common) when
transitioning from the SF Valley to the city over the 405,
and it'll take another half-hour. Rush hour? Forget it.
Take Sepulveda and side streets, and it'll take 3.5 hours.

I can also tell you how long it takes me to get to Fresno,
to Bakersfield, to San Fransisco, and to Phoenix and Tucson.
