Today in London, the Plain English Campaign host their annual awards.
Donald Rumsfeld sadly is unable to attend to receive in person
the "Foot in Mouth" trophy, despite having beaten off strong
competition from George W Bush and Britain's own Deputy Prime
Minister, John Prescott.
The award, for the single most confusing piece of public gobbledegook
is for the following cryptic remarks made to baffled journalists:
"Reports that say something hasn't happened are always interesting to
me because, as we know, there are known knowns - there are things we
know we know. We also know there are known unknowns - that is to say
we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also
unknown unknowns - the ones we don't know we don't know."
Well deserved I say.
