Well I have trouble with the actual titles of US politicians (since I tend
to call them by their UK equivalents) but I think he's the Defence
Secretary - and an inability to communicate clearly is obviously one of the
most important qualifications to hold in a position like that ... actually,
do you think that's why they picked him :)
I don't know how he manages it but his other sterling quality is the ability
to completely ignore the question he was asked, say what he was intending to
say all along *and get away with it*. I don't know whether US journalists
are just politer than UK ones but I would love to see him try that with
Paxman.
