KathyK:
I used to *love* sweetened condensed milk when I was younger. My
parents used to put strawberries in a bowl with a biscuit as if they
were making a strawberry shortcake-like dessert and then drizzle
(okay, they *poured*) the condensed milk all over it. It was
yummy! Especially when we had the frozen strawberries in syrup
rather than fresh ones.
Now the very thought of strawberries in syrup makes me shudder and
adding the sweetened condensed milk would probably make me sick.
But when I was a child, that was my favorite.
Hey June, I'm trying to picture this sandwich. Is there so much
condensed milk on it that it drips? Or does the bread absorb any of
it? Does she put anything else on it?
KathyK, now remembering that her parents also used to serve black
olives after dinner and call it dessert and thinking she'll have to
ask them why they did that
