Go for it, I say.  I used to work in a UK university (in support) 
and although it's often poverty row for a good while, get on the 
Professor salary scale and things become very different indeed.  

And that cynicism aside, it's good to think that there'll be a 
culturally well-rounded academic who reads the HP books.
