I suppose Jimmy Riddle was a real person, in real life or in pop
culture, whose name was taken into rhyming slang. I vaguely recall my
ex (a Londoner) telling me he had gone home for a visit and a new bit
of rhyming slang had cropped up while he was in the States, based on
the founder of Australian Professional Cricket, which had come on TV
in UK (which I have gone to the trouble to find a Web reference for):
