Yes, he reads the US versions, as LOONS know from the very first
chapter, when the new word Dudley learns is "Won't!" The covers are
also a bit of a giveaway. :-P

I think I've told this story before, but repetition is the privilege
of old age (says the woman who was *not* in first grade when the
Challenger blew up). Before I'd even cracked open an HP, I heard Jim
Dale interviewed on All Things Considered. GF must have just come
out, and they were asking him about the process. He said it took
about 10 days to tape and that he hadn't read the whole thing when he
began; he could only read enough each night to prepare for the next
day's taping (how does one read a mystery properly if one doesn't
know whodunnit? But he pulls it off). So when he encountered Winky,
he gave her the same voice he'd given Dobby. Then, to his dismay, he
discovered he was going to have to create a dialogue between them.
He created a new voice for Winky and retaped the QWC bits.
