I concede that; I just (two hours ago) got to Strider's introduction in 
the book and understand the directorial choices more and more.  I still 
don't think he'd bite half his R's like he's from Kansas, though. :)

of yokel/country bumpkin accent and what I assume is his native American 
accent. It also seemed worse in TT than FoTR."

I have to bow out of this one, because his character leans so far towards 
pathetic (sir this, master that) that I have to ignore him most of the 
time or I get all upset.
