This does seem possible doesn't it. It's a shame though. Wonder if 
the publishers were pushing for a deadline (contractural or not) to 
be met and they told the editors not to be too picky? Maybe it'll 
read better the second time through? But my reaction first time 
through was "is that it?" And if I can spot things like the Thestrals 
I'm sure the real experts will start to find holes all over the 
place. Sigh.
