Dumbledad,

I just got my UK editions today, both of them.  I wanted each 
cover!  Call me weird.  Anyway, I have to agree about the 
illustrations at the beginning of each chapter.  And I LOVE the 
cover on the USA edition - very dark and mysterious, I think.  Some 
people I have talked to think that the pics are "childish", but I 
like them!
