As has been discussed before, English muffins do not exist in England. Most
likely they are bastardized crumpets, as there certainly are similarities,
but crumpets are far superior to my tastebuds. Also, you CAN get crumpets
in this country - if you're lucky enough to have a Trader Joe's, they always
have them, and even many of the mainstream groceries carry them now. If all
else fails, do a websearch for British import shops in your area - you can
get all sorts of lovely things from them.
