I would suggest a "Best Tin-Pan Alley" filk category instead, so we
could also include all the Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving
Berlin, et al derived filks. I've only done a few Gershwin filks
(Gershwin is hard to filk!) but quite a few Cole Porter.

I would suggest sub-dividing this to "oldies" (50s to 70s) and
contemporary (80s to the present)

This sounds good. I might suggest adding a category for best Gilbert
and Sullivan filk as well.
As for scoring, I would say each voter should be able to name one
first choice, and one runner-up. First Choice is worth two points.
runner-up one point.
