What I'm wondering now is if public pillorying is precedented. 
Banning someone for questionable reasons is bad enough; it should 
have been done privately and quietly. The only people who needed to 
know were those involved. I see no reason that this sorry event had 
to be announced with a "special notice" to the entire list membership.
