On behalf of the South Florida area, I'd like to repeat what they said 
on tv this morning:

Please, don't hate us.

Yes, I know it's been 15ish years since the cubs were in a series, but 
our team is reallt *the little team that could*.

Most everyone down here was originally - or still is, at heart, a fan of 
something else - the yankees or the mets, the sox, cubs or dodgers. 
Perhaps even the Twins.

But our highest paid player is getting 10 million over three years. 
Derek Jeter makes more in a year than all our players combined (and a 
few of the coaches thrown in for good measure).

Earlier in the year, MLB was talking about taking our team away.

But they worked like hell and played like heaven and with everyone 
rooting against them, they pulled it off.

And while we may not be anyone's truest beloved, the players are good 
and full of hope and I'm off to buy some tickets now.

So, again...

Please, don't hate us.
