the Belgariad and the Malloreon.  (a pentet series and its sequil... both by
David Eddings)
the Cleric Quintet  (a series by R.A. Salvatore)
the Dark Elf Trilogy, the Icewind Dale Trilogy, and the following Dark Elf
books (by R. A. Salvatore)
the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy (by Tolkein, of course)
the Dragon and the George  (by Peter S. Beagle... sp?)
