Personally, I feel that force-feeding her to keep her alive is cruel,
unusual, and unwarranted punishment upon her and her husband.
At the point she's at right now, she's not much more than a body as it is...
the mind is pretty much gone. If she cannot eat in any manner other than a
tube into her stomach, then the only thing that's functioning is her
autonomic system. The parents need to let her go.
>From a political standpoint, IMHO, Jed didn't do this because he cared about
the woman's rights or her life... He did it to pave the way for votes to
re-election (or election to a better office). If his personal views on
saving lives was the issue, then he would have stepped in on a number of
other situations a LOT earlier than he did.
This is just my opinion, of course.
