The Sergeant Majorette says

I actually *am* quite proficient in Microsoft Office, and I got that
way by fooling around with it; my advice therefore is to temp
somewhere where it's on the machine. As for your typing speed, get
really into keyboard shortcuts and don't admit to typing any faster
than 55. You're not a typist, you're a word processing specialist.
More and more nowadays, employers are savvy enough to give actual
production tests which favor keyboarders over old fashioned speed-
typists.

Good luck.
