You caught one of its meanings. "Amanar" ('r' included) also happens 
to be the translation of my full name into Elvish. That's why I like 
it so much - whichever way you take it, it will always lead you back 
to the same person :)

And it *is* common. I have two cousins named Naama, and I know about 
four others. And people always seem to have known another Naama 
before me. So when I found out there was another one on the list, it 
was more like "I should have known". (No hard feelings, though)
