        I've not seen anything about this before. (Doesn't mean it's not been about, I could easily have missed it:)

To be really honest, I think they're just marks from JKR's numerous cups of coffee. Not that Luna won't play her part in the rest of the series.

Someone once tried to explain the role of the Virgin Mary in the Catholic Church as being, "like the moon, reflecting the light of the Sun/Son." Not that I can see a way of working that into a theory. Anyone like to have a go? Not sure what the connection is, but I'm convinced Ginny is a representation of Mary Magdalene, so why not?
