tastes seems to correspond to what's already been stated here, but,
still; here are a few that I've really enjoyed, so if someone else
picks them up and gets something out of them then so much the better.

ironic; rich, rich language; told through the sense of smell, so
interesting for that reason if no other. Read it!

I also strongly agree with captain_suburbia and HumanTupperware
about Perfume. I read it a while back and thought it was a
tremendous book. I am not sure I have ever read anything quite like
it! Also thanks for the additonal recommendation, I am always on the
lookout for new things to read.

HumanTupperware continues:

waiting for the new Harry to come out might want to give
the "sandman" comics by Neil Gaiman a try, his world is equally rich
and complex in mythology and the psyche.....

I just discovered Neil Gaiman and read Neverwhere -another very
interesting book...

I am rereading Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series (The Eyre
Affair, Lost in a Good Book, The Well of Lost Plots and Something
Rotten). Also I have books on audio cd and listen to different ones
while driving to work. Two of those types of books I really
recommend are Seabiscuit read by Campbell Scott (the book is also
just wonderful to read) and the other is The Pleasure of my Company
written and read by Steve Martin - truely brilliant!

Snip
So far I haven't heard a single theory on this mystery lion man that
I agree with, except of course, the likelihood that it is the DADA
teacher.....

Dudemom_2000 says:

After intially falling on my sword about Aberforth, I am now not so
sure other than possibly a new teacher. Since Harry really isn't in
a position to meet many new people other than teachers except if he
would be in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade. Whomever it is, Harry
obviously gets to meet him up close and personal because we don't
that detailed a description otherwise....

Subject: JKR appointment?

I have been taking a closer look at the revamped 'extras' page of
JKR's website, the one you get by clicking on the mug.

Snip

However, the one that really interested me was the note at the top,
pinned partly behind the main sheet containing the extras
themselves. It appears to say:

14/09/04
Shepperton Studio
Middlesex

I'm not the most careful reader of The Leaky Cauldron, but I don't
recall seeing any mention of anything to happen on that date. Can
anyone enlighten me? I suppose a visit to Shepperton might be a
private affair, but if so, why advertise it on her website? Isn't
that just a recipe for large numbers of fans to congregate hopefully
outside the gate that day?

Dave! You saw it too! I would love to be there outside the studio on
that date. I bet she put it there to see who notices.... Obviously
we need to pay even more attention to that bulletin board.
