Would that be rock cakes? They're a real recipe and if not made by
Hagrid, very tasty.

Two notes:
1) I haven't actually cooked from either of these versions (it was
just quicker than getting out a cook book), but they look OK.
2) remember that despite the name, you need Golden Syrup (made by
Lyle's, comes in a green and golden tin) and that *treacle* is quite
different (I believe the equivalent of molasses). You *cannot* make a
treacle tart with black treacle. Treacle toffee, yes, tart no. Do I
make myself clear? ;-)

PS I just "Froogled" Golden Syrup and got lots of hits. In fact if
you follow the links to some of the UK food importers you'll find
lots of other British staples as well. And not so staples - just
found lamb and mint sauce flavoured crisps on special offer. ;-)
