No kidding!  I think my seven-year-old would stop speaking to me if
she knew I thought it was more important to study math than magic.  

I think the reason this thread (on the main list) interests me is
because of my daughter's continued belief that she'll get to go to
Hogwarts someday.  She was convinced she'd be going this year, since
her best friend had said that was the case and her best friend is
infallible.  It is interesting to listen to her thoughts about what
she would miss in the Muggle world; she's gotten around the fear of
leaving home and family by deciding that I would be going too, as an
assistant to McGonagall.  

She knows HP is pretend, if she bothers to think about it, so I see no
reason to take away her fun.  I hope she isn't terribly dissappointed
a few years from now.
