Subject: [HPFGU-OTChatter] Re: LOTR DVDs 'milking it' and HP DVDs

Hi Tammy!

I'm glad you're still around!

[Now Tammy:] Oh, I've been lurking quietly for months and months, now. :-)
It's rare when I have something to say that someone else has't already said
better. Plus, I'm not the only Tammy around here, either. But it's nice
when someone knows my name (even if it's not ME they're thinking of, LOL).

No, I probably wouldn't buy them, but then again I am only collecting
the extended sets of LOTR (when I want to see the "extra" extras on
the theatricals, that's what Netflix is for).

[Now Tammy:] Oh, I just love Netflix! :-D I don't know what we'd do
anymore without Netflix. We must have rented at least a couple hundred
movies from them now.

There's extra extra extras on the box set? That's cool, but I
wouldn't rebuy the movies again for them.

[Now Tammy:] Well, I'm not certain about the box-set, to begin with. I
mean, it's been rumored since before 'Fellowship' hit the screens, and it's
basically accepted as fact that it'll show up soon, but I don't know for
certain if it's just 'accepted fact' or if it's Truth. :-)

No, and certainly not for the HP series...I don't think the movies
are near as enjoyable as the LOTR series. The only way I would buy
more out of this franchise would be if they released actual extended
versions, with cut scenes brought in to the actual movie, but I doubt
they will. It is likely cost prohibitive; you have to do the
effects, have the composer rescore, etc...I don't think they'd sell
enough to make it worth their while.

[Now Tammy:] Well, WB would be in good company, considering all the other
companies that have basically shot their milk cows while they were still
producing.

Then again, WB's biggest mistake seems to be underestimating the
loyal (adult) fan base of this series...They've been missing out on a
lot of merchandising as well.

[Now Tammy:] WB has been missing a lot on the merchandising, but I myself am
glad not to be inundated with Harry Potter Mania. It's hard enough to get
my hubby to admit that, maybe, possibly, to OTHER people than himself, LOTR
and HP might just possibly NOT be wastes of paper and/or film. If the
merchandising were any heavier on HP, he might just be turned against it
(tongue firmly in cheek, here).

imamommy
who wishes Tammy a very Merry Christmas

[Now Tammy:] And a very merry Christmas to you, too, and to everyone else
on the list as well -- Happy Holidays!
