Haunted Chambers, a RPG run by adults.
A new Harry Potter role-playing game owned and administrated by adults
is now open and recruiting for good, strong role-players. The board
is BOOK canon-friendly, though it does allow and even welcome
well-thought-out original characters. Applicants are screened
thoroughly for book knowledge and a good, solid grasp of their
characters. Film knowledge alone will not get you past the initial
screening phase.
There are many, many Harry Potter role-playing games out there.
However, it seems that many of these, perhaps even most of them, are
run by later teens to early young-adults. These `kids' are very
creative, very imaginative, but also in a very exciting, transient
time of their lives, so that their games often end quickly and
unexpectedly. After playing in dozens of games that seem to fizzle
and die prematurely for various reasons, this administration team
banded together to create this game, taking the best of features from
others we have played upon and hopefully avoiding some of the pitfalls.
The primary focus is character development and interaction. We have
several forums allowing our players to explore their character in
different time periods, from MWPP era to present-day. We are just now
beginning to move into Harry's 6th year and `uncharted' territory in
canon. We have a very active Wizarding World, outside of Hogwarts,
and encourage adult characters as well as the students.
The game is loosely plot-driven. Albus Dumbledore, Cornelius Fudge,
and Lord Voldemort are run by the administration team, as well as
Daily Prophet articles. These characters are used as `Game masters'
of sorts. Their actions and directives to Order Members, Teachers,
Death Eaters and Ministry Employees help to direct the primary plot of
the game. Players are then free to develop their own sub-plots as
they desire, allowing their characters to react to the information and
environment as they choose.
Does this sound like your sort of game
