I read 'Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell', and absolutely loved it. You
mention the footnotes -- I particularly enjoyed them; they add
immeasurably to the illusion that this is a nonfiction account of
actual historical events.

I recommend this book to adult HP readers, my fellow Snape fans in
particular. The darkly enigmatic Mr. John Childermass seems a natural
 for fanfiction. ;-)
