My issues with Veritaserum's site (part of HPANA)

Heh, I must be making this guy's day.

Ranty-rant ahead.

First, I sent an email with songvid info (link, song, song artist's name,
etc) in a clear format around the middle of December (Veritaserum didn't
have a template for submissions). I sent this info for four vids and a
link to my journal and said I have the bandwidth to keep my vids hosted on
my own site.

Yesterday, I checked Veritaserum to find *all* the HP vids (not just the
four) had been downloaded and uploaded to their site. Okay, wasn't happy
there because they thought I didn't have the bandwidth and, by providing a
link to my journal, I had given them permission to download all HP vids?
Then I find one of my vids incorrectly labeled (Mad World was clearly sent
as Gary Jules'** version *not* Tears for Fears) and I was credited with
somebody else's vid.

**I can identify at least two other vid folk who used the same Gary Jules'
song for the same HP movie. I'm glad I released mine within days of POA
hitting the theater (i.e. dibs on who did what first). AFAIK, no POA vid
is done with the Tears for Fears original version.

Okay, I emailed the site, said Mad World is by Gary Jules just as I had
labeled the vid, and that I have never done an Evanescence vid. Plus, I
tried to debate I can take care of my own vids (30gigs bandwidth/month is
enough) and I've had the same webhost/domain account since 1998 and have
just as much invested in keeping the name.

I'll give them credit on quickly making corrections. All but four of my
vids were removed, Mad World's entry was corrected, and my name was taken
off the Evanescence vid. However, they still wouldn't do direct linking
to the vids I hosted.

I mentioned the page didn't have a 'vidder's info' (i.e. how do you get in
contact with the creator of the songvid - not even an email address for
them), unless the person incorporated it into their work... which I don't.
So, the site allowed a link to my journal (the one they tried uploading
all the HP vids from).

I'm thinking fair enough... and then I find the link they used takes a
person to the top level of the domain name, which doesn't link to my
journal and the other HP vids. So, another email to Veritaserum goes out.
:-\ Again, they're quick on making corrections.

Hehe, should I say my vidding name is 'bunniqula' and not 'Dina' (the vids
are labeled as 'vid by bunniqula' on all four)? I'm not going to bother
on that. Seriously, I'm not trying to make his job harder but not all of
it was my fault. All in all, I must've made the site maintainer...
remember me.

Dina
