Saitaina has a very good point. There's nothing more
distracting than noticing errors, both technical ones
(spelling, grammar, etc) and factual ones. I think not
doing adequate research is equally distracting to the
SPaG mistakes. 

Something else that fails to impress are fic writers
who blow it off when you point out errors in their
fics by saying, "Well, JKR is bad at maths so I'm
entitled to make errors, too." ;-)
