I realize they've succeeded so far...my thought was that they would 
continue making such wonderful choices/decisions in everyday life 
that they would ultimately end up in a 'Darwin Award Winning' 
situation.

But you're right...the damage has already been done.  Thus, the 
shallow end expands.
