You could have posted this in the thread for "You might be an HP 
fanatic if..." 

As in, you might be an HP fanatic if you can remember exactly what 
you were doing when they announced the release date!

I'm thinking of dates that are in the collective consciousness - 
mainly the Kennedy assassination, the tragedy of 11 September 2001.  

This seems to be a nicer recollection.  And no, sadly I can't 
remember what I was doing - but I did put it in my diary because I'm 
still carrying around my 2002 diary and I just looked.
