Very possibly.
When making a film out of a novel, you have to take some stuff out
simply for reasons for time - but it's also sometimes a good idea
to change a few things as well - and provided it's nothing critical
to the plot, I can't see a problem with it, if it is done by
reasons of creating particular atmosphere's etc. And it's hard to
make those judgements until you see the finished product.
