Hi!

A bit of a gray area, here. This thread began by talking about the
door, then began to discuss the *content* of the site, i.e., the Lorem
Ipsum thingy. But Lorem Ipsum isn't HP canon, so out it goes. :D

(Trying to keep this on topic)

And it's not even *good* Latin. I'm trying to read it, and I can get
out a few words, but unless it's something seriously mediaeval
transcribed authentically, a lot of the words are misspelled, and I
suspect the whole thing doesn't make sense--it's not grammatical,
either.

I'll keep looking at it some time later, but I suspect it's just
there as a kind of place holder. We could always form an HP4GU Latin
Consortium, though... :)

I doubt there are any serious clues in this. There's more than
enough to think about...Theodore Nott is very intriguing, now...

For the record. It's not in Latin. What is on the book's pages is
standard "placeholder" text that is used when doing layout, before you
have any real text. As I recall, it's something like Lorum ipsat
something-or-other. It's a sentence or two, and then it repeats. Once
you see the "Lorum," you know what it is. It's not real text, in any
language.

Ah, the dreaded "Lorem ipsum..." Which bolsters my theory that what
you will eventually find behind the door is hints and clues to Book
VI, when they are available.

Ack!

I've mentioned previously on the list that I had the
(good)(mis)fortune to have some very Snapish teachers in my life -
very Snapish indeed.

One of them, a man who seemed to have nothing even resembling a
sense of humour and who took great delight in crushing the egos of
all concerned in the class asked us to translate *that* passage on
a Latin exam in Third Form. He thought it was so funny - I was
literally sweating at my stupidity in not having a clue what it
said (I knew some of the words, sure... but they didn't make
sense).
